About
CanadianAgronomist.ca is an initiative of Bruce Barker, P.Ag. of Haywire Creative Inc. CanadianAgronomist.ca seeks to fill the technology transfer gap between researchers, agronomists and farmers by summarizing research, from peer-reviewed academic journals or final research reports, into easily accessible Research Insights that agronomists and farmers can use to improve crop production practices.
Bruce Barker is based out of Bragg Creek, Alberta, and specializes in technical agricultural writing and editing. He has been writing about agriculture for so long that he can remember when canola, lentils, peas, and chickpeas were considered new crops, Haybuster was the only zero-till drill, and Hoe-Grass was a breakthrough in wild oat herbicides. A Professional Agrologist with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan, Bruce’s Saskatchewan farm roots eventually led him to write from his straw bale house in the foothills of Alberta, supervised by his chocolate lab, Lily.
CanadianAgronomist.ca is possible through the generous sponsorships of grower supported commodity groups.
